يُعَدُّ بَرْنامَج VLC Media Player مِنْ إحْدَى بَرَامِجِ تشْغِيلْ مِلفَّاتْ الفِيدْيُو وَالملْتِيميدْيَا القلِيلَةِ التي تخْدِمُ عِدَّةَ مُسْتخْدِمِينَ رَاغِبِينَ فِي بِضْعِ خِدَمَاتٍ إضِافِيَّةٍ أثْنَاءَ تشْغِيلِ ملفَّاتِ الفيدْيُو المُخصَّصَةِ . فالبَرْنامَج يدْعَمُ عِدّةَ صِيَغٍ مُختلفةٍ وَمِنْ أهَمِّهَا مَلفّات الامْتِدادِ ''bin.'' الذِي غالِبَاً مَا يُشَاهَدُ فِي مَلفَّاتِ أقْرَاصِ الـ DVD المُخصَّصةِ لِلأفلامِ السِّينمَائيِّةِ وَمَا شَابهَ , وَأيْضاً تتواجَدُ هذهِ الصِّيغةُ كثِيراً فِي الأفلامِ ذاتِ الوُضُوحِ ''DVDRip'' بمَواقعِ التُّورنت المُختلفةِ .
عِدَّةُ مَيِّزاتٍ أُخْرًى تتَوَاجَدُ فِي البَرْنَامَجِ , كالتَّعَامُلِ مَعَ الصُّورةِ وَإعْدَادَاتِهَا وَمَسَاراتِ الصَّوْتِ وَإضَافةِ نُصُوصِ التَّرْجَمَةِ كذلِكَ .
