من ناحية أخرى أعلن الاتحاد الأفريقي أن الأدوار التمهيدية سوف تبدأ منافساتها في يناير القادم ، كما قام الاتحاد الأفريقي برفع جوائز البطولة بحيث يحصل الفائز على مبلغ مليون ونصف المليون دولار ، ويضاف لهذه الجائزة مبلغ 2 مليون دولار يحصل عليها الفريق الفائز باللقب نظير مشاركته في كأس العالم للأندية.
